Take a bite!

By Peter "abuelito" Lewis

Is there anything better than counting down the days until your next vacation?

As the change of seasons signals colder weather on the way, our thoughts drift south to the warm sands of Nosara. I can’t wait to walk that palm-shaded jungle trail from the hotel to that expansive pristine white beach once again!

When the Northern Hemisphere winter takes hold, it triggers those dreamy offshore winds that blow in Playa Guiones. Wild white plumes of spindrift lift off the backs of waves, grooming them into perfect tubular shapes to surfers’ delight.

The yoga deck awakens with the deep inner breaths and chants of instructor and students as howler monkeys swing in the trees overhead.

Wonderful aromas waft from the kitchen of Restaurante El Manglar all the way to the surf, teasing the taste buds and stomachs of beach walkers and wave riders alike.

The mid-day high tide is perfect for a lazy kayak paddle through the mangrove tunnels at “The Boca” of Nosara river, topped off by a poolside Imperial and Ceviche. And then… (of course) … a well earned siesta.

Whether you’ve been returning for years or experiencing it all for the first time, there is nothing quite like the thrill and comfort you feel once here. A friend once told me that Nosara is a place that prompts one to “sink your teeth into the apple” – not just sit on a balcony observing.

We cordially invite you to come on down and take a bite!
