When COVID was first detected in Costa Rica back in March 2020, hotels went into temporary closure. Many protocols were introduced to reopen hotels and restaurants, and a few months later, some health protocols changed, and some remain in place.
Aside from the requirements to enter Costa Rica, the main protocols required to be observed are:
Use of Masks. You will need to wear a face mask that covers your mouth and nose while flying, inside buildings (like the airport), shuttles (including your van from the airport), shops, and when entering restaurants.
Fortunately, Olas Verdes has an open design that allows guests to remove their masks most of the time, but it is still required upon arriving at the hotel, and any time you are at the Front Desk, in the Club House, or in the office at Safari Surf School.
Social Distancing. We have learned to stay with our social bubbles and keep at least 6 ft apart from other people to reduce the chance of transmission. This is especially important when we are not using any face protection, like when we interact on the beach or in the pool area with other people.
Washing hands. This is an excellent habit that we should keep forever! You will notice that responsible businesses have a place to wash your hands before entering. Please use it. Aside from preventing COVID transmission, a recent study showed that dysentery cases dropped over 50% from last year in Costa Rica due to this practice.
Costa Rica has opened its doors and its heart to visitors from all over the world, but we ask for your cooperation so we can continue to keep this beautiful place and its people healthy and secure.
Welcome back to Nosara and Olas Verdes!
