These essentials shouldn’t be rare, but in Nosara’s booming restaurant scene, they’re tough to find all together.
What I Wish I’d Known Sooner
Mike and I stayed up late that night talking. “How did we not know they had dinner?” he asked.
“Because we assumed,” I said. “We thought we knew what it was.”
That’s been my mistake for years. El Manglar has been in Guiones all along. I knew their breakfast: gallo pinto, fresh fruit, homemade tortillas, and premium coffee, but I still put them in a mental box labeled “breakfast place.”

I still love exploring new restaurants in Nosara. The dining scene has exploded, from Guiones to Pelada to Garza, and even Huacas; there are incredible options everywhere, and I’ll keep trying new places.
However, I’ve learned that sometimes the best discoveries are right in front of you all along. The places you’ve walked past a hundred times because you thought you knew what they were.
The night with Mike’s family, eleven of us with wildly different needs and preferences, was one of our favorite evenings in Nosara. Not because it was extravagant, but because it was easy.
